Setting Magnum Bodygrip Traps #110 & #116

Setting bodygrip traps - PDF

When setting any spring trap care needs to taken to prevent injury to yourself and others.

All spring traps in the UK must be set within a natural or artificial tunnel, properly positioned and shielded against non-target species. We think traps should be checked twice a day for maximum effectiveness. The side spring system of the 'bodygrip' trap means you can see if it has fired without approaching too close and possibly disturbing the 'set'.

Bodygrip setting instructions: Magnum #110 & #116

1: Extend spring so it is pointed directly away from trap. Then grip and compress spring.

2: Keeping spring compressed, pull trap frames together with other hand. If a Safety Gripper is available, set it over jaws to hold them in place

3: Position trigger and dog at desired location along frame and then set trigger in preferred notch of dog.

4: Be sure trigger is secure within notch of dog. Then grip compressed spring and release frames slowly. Release Safety Gripper if one is being used. Trap is now ready to use Spring can be swung to side if necessary for desirable setting position.

Victor Conibear #120-2

1: Extend both springs so they point directly away from trap. Grip and compress either spring. Set safety hook to keep spring compressed. Repeat for second spring.

2: Center springs over hinge and pull frames together with one hand. Keep them together with safety catch if one is available.

3: Position trigger and dog at desired location along frame and then set trigger in preferred notch of dog.

4: Be sure trigger is secure within notch of dog. Place trap in desired location. Then, keeping hands clear of trap frames, slowly release each safety hook and slide to coiled ends of spring. Release Safety Gripper if one is being used. Trap is now ready for use.

5: The trap is now fully set. Ensure the safety hooks remain in place until you leave the set.

Bodygrip traps by law require a natural or artificial tunnel as well stabilising.
