There are three main control methods listed below, although squirrels may be shot using shotguns and air rifles. Drey poking can be an effective means of reducing numbers if carried out by competent marksmen, air rifles are useful in the Autumn when squirrels are busy collecting food and the leaves are falling leaving less cover.
